Course Overview

The BSc (Hons) Marketing and Social Media is a three-year, Level 6 bachelor’s degree, with an optional foundation year route available over four years. 

The foundation year is designed to support applicants who wish to develop their academic skills and subject knowledge before progressing to Year 1 of the degree. 

The programme covers the strategic, practical, and analytical dimensions of modern marketing and leads to a full bachelor’s degree awarded by the University of West London (UWL). 

The programme has been developed with input from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and teaching content is aligned with CIM’s learning outcomes to reflect current and emerging industry practice. 

Graduates may progress to marketing, digital, or brand management roles across a range of sectors, or to further study, depending on individual circumstances.

BSc (Hons) Marketing & Social Media Entry Requirements

Year 1 Entry  

112 UCAS points required from level 3 qualifications 

These can include:  

  • A-Levels at grade B, B and C, or above 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma with Distinction, Merit, Merit 
  • Access to HE Diploma 
  • T Levels  

You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade 9-4 / A*-C) or Level 2 equivalents.  

Level 5 (year 2) entry

To directly enter the second year of this course, you will need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 120 undergraduate credits at Level 4 or a CertHE in a related subject area. 

Level 6 (year 3) entry  

To directly enter the third year of this course, you need to show appropriate knowledge and experience. For example, you are an ideal candidate if you have 240 undergraduate credits (at Levels 4 and 5), a DipHE, foundation degree or HND in a related subject area. 

Foundation Year Entry 

72 UCAS points required from level 3 qualifications 

These can include:  

  • A-Levels at grades B and C (if you have two A-Levels) or grades D, D and D (if you have three), or above 
  • BTEC Extended Diploma with Merit, Merit, Pass 
  • Access to HE Diploma 
  • T-Levels  

You also need GCSE English and Maths (grade 9-4 / A*-C) or Level 2 equivalents.  

Mature Applicants (aged 21+) 

Mature applicants (aged 21+): If you do not hold the qualifications listed but have relevant work experience, you are welcome to apply. Your application will be considered on an individual basis. 

Applicants applying as mature students, or those whose previous qualifications were not taught and assessed in English, will be required to complete an English language assessment on campus. 

This assessment is used to ensure that all students have the necessary level of English proficiency to successfully undertake their studies. Applicants will be contacted with further details as part of the admissions process. 

Applicants should also be able to demonstrate an interest in marketing and motivation to engage with degree-level study.
