At UKCBC, our admissions process is designed to support adult learners by providing clear information, guidance and support throughout the application journey. Whether you are applying for higher education for career development or personal interest, our admissions and application support teams aim to help you understand your options and prepare for study alongside other commitments.

First Steps – Enquiry, Pre-admission Support and Your Application

The admissions process usually begins with an initial conversation with our Application Support Team. During this stage, they can provide information about student finance, study patterns (including evening classes where available), and the application process.

Applicants may also receive practical support with preparing their application, such as guidance on CVs and advice ahead of an admissions interview. This stage is designed to help you identify a suitable course and understand the study commitments involved.

Once you are ready to proceed, your application is submitted to the Admissions Team for formal consideration.

Admissions Interviews and Testing

If your application meets the initial entry criteria, you will be invited to book an online admissions interview.

Where applicants do not hold the standard qualifications for direct entry, or do not have English at GCSE grade C/4, they may be asked to sit an English assessment. These assessments are used to help confirm readiness for study at the appropriate level.

The interview and any assessments form part of the admissions decision-making process. Once completed, the Admissions Team reviews the outcomes and submits the application to the relevant partner university where applicable.

Accepting an Offer

If your application is successful, you will receive an offer to study your chosen course and intake. Full details of the offer, including any conditions, will be provided so you can make an informed decision before accepting.
